A filter press utilizes a pressure differential across the filter cloth, forcing most of the water in the material to flow through the cloth and out of the filter chamber. The material is trapped within the filter chamber, forming a filter cake, achieving filtration. The large pressure differential across the cloth during the filtration process increases filtration speed and reduces the water content of the filter cake. Furthermore, the use of specialized filter cloth results in a purer filtrate, achieving significantly better filtration results than vacuum filters.
Filter presses are widely used in industries such as edible oil, chemicals, pharmaceuticals, metallurgy, ceramics, sugar, pigments, dyes, cement, and silicates, as well as for municipal and industrial sludge dewatering.
Before operation, place the filter cloth over the filter plates. Then, operate the filter press, actuate the clamping rod, and firmly press the clamping plate against the filter plates. Start the feed pump, and the material enters the filter press through the feed port. The material flows through the channels on the filter plates and into the filter chamber.
Under the pressure of the feed pump, the clear liquid passes through the filter cloth and enters the densely packed, dot-shaped filter surface of the filter plates. The clear liquid then flows through the channels on the filter plates and into the liquid outlet, where it is collected and discharged. The filter cake is retained in the filter chamber until it fills the chamber. Then, stop the feed pump, release the clamping plate, and pull the filter plates one by one to remove the filter cake.
