The key components of this plate and frame filter press are the filter plates and frames, arranged alternately to form chambers for processing slurry (a liquid-solid mixture). These plates are constructed using quality polypropylene or stainless steel, while the outer frames can be customized from various plastic or metal compositions.
During operation, the solid-liquid mixture is pumped into the spaces between the plates and frames. Liquid elements pass through the filter cloth and drain away, while solid particles build up on the cloth surface, forming a filter cake. The operational cycle begins when the hydraulic system activates to press the plates firmly together. Once secured, the slurry is pumped in. When the chambers reach capacity, the pump halts, the system releases pressure, opens, and the dry cake is discharged. The system then resets for the next batch run.
