The membrane filter press, normally refers to a chamber membrane filter press. It is a professional solid liquid separation device for industrial usages. It realize filtration by forcing material/slurry through a filter cloth. A membrane filter press takes this concept a step further than a chamber filter press. It consists of a series of recessed chamber plates and membrane filter plates together. The key difference lies in the integration of membrane plates strategically placed within the filter pack. These membrane plates can be inflated with high pressure air or high pressure water after the initial filtration phase, then the high pressure medium will squeeze the filter cakes, to reduce more moisture to get better dewatering performance.
Why odd number plates?
The odd number ensures symmetry and provides volume to store solids. Membrane plates are flat; they work with chamber filter plates on both sides to form cakes. Since the tail and head plates are chamber types, the middle plates are always an odd number.
Squeeze Medium choice?
For smaller models, high pressure air is the first choice. For larger models (like 1500 series), high pressure water is more cost-saving. The choice also depends on your specific industry requirements.
Advantages & Applications
Key Advantages:
✓
Drier Filter Cake: Lower disposal costs and reduced transportation volume.
✓
Shorter Cycles: Increased throughput and higher production capacity.
✓
More Filtrate: Maximum liquid recovery, especially for rich liquids.
Primary Applications:
●
Mining: Mineral concentrates, coal washery, kaolin.
●
Wastewater: Biological sludge, textile and tannery sludge.
1. Closing: Hydraulic system presses plates to form a sealed chamber.
2. Feeding: Slurry is pumped into chambers under pressure.
3. Filtration: Solids deposit on cloths forming cakes.
4. Membrane Squeezing (Key): High-pressure medium inflates membranes to squeeze cakes.
5. Opening: Plates open and cakes are discharged.
